The Simplest Ways to Transition Your Space for a New Season

If you’re like us then it’s safe to say that you also love to give your home a seasonal facelift. Cooler months are about cozy texture, deep neutrals and darker finishes while warmer months usually tend to see brighter colors, big and bolder patterns, and of course, lighter linens. While you can’t always change everything in your home, there are few things you can do to enjoy a new look every season.

Change Throw Pillows and Blankets

Switching and swapping your decorative throws and blankets can make a big impact on the overall vibe of your living room. They set the tone, polish the overall style, and can make or break a particular design style so simply changing old ones will instantly refresh your space.

It comes in different styles and colors, and different price points, too! When buying a new throw pillow or blanket, make sure to always consider how it’ll blend or stand out in your living room.

Update the bedding

Just like your pillows and blankets in the living room, your bedding can also be a centerpiece in your bedroom. You can easily change the vibe by swapping out your duvet cover and using a fresh set of sheets. Add a decorative pillow or two and you’ll surely feel like you just had a quick room makeover. If you’re into white bed sheets, you can also try other shades of white (yes, they exist!) or those with light prints.

Consider Refreshing Your Wall Space

You can either choose an accent wall to paint with a new color or update your home’s style by hanging photos, paintings, or any piece of art. Existing hanging photos can also be changed (like go from black and white to colored or vice versa, or simply hang more updates photographs). If you want a bolder statement, you can even add geometric accents to highlight a contemporary vibe.

Change the Rugs

Another way to set a new tone for your space is to change your rugs. Rugs in deeper hues and subdued patterns are perfect in cooler months while vibrant colors and patterns work well in the summer. There are no hard and fast rules here, though, just make sure that it’s in line with the overall look you’re after and that it feels right for your unique taste.

Add Hardware

Swap brass hardware for silver or a traditional handle for something quirky. It’s one of the easiest ways to make a big difference in your overall aesthetic. There’s rarely a room in the home without hardware so the possibilities are endless.

Change Your Scents

You’ll be surprised how scents can be influential when it comes to how you feel about your home. During winter months, it’s great to opt for warm, rich scents like cinnamon, pine and vanilla. Warmer months, on the other hand, are great for breezy aromas such as floral and citrus. This update won’t break the bank, too. All you need is a candle or essential oil diffuser.
